In recent years, Paraíba has experienced growth in tourism, appearing in several surveys as one of the most sought-after destinations in Brazil and worldwide. Data from Azul Linhas Aéreas flights, comparing the period from January to July, show that in 2024, 22,611 passengers came to the state through the company. This year, the number has risen to 29,719 — a jump of more than 20%. The trend is for this increase to continue into the 2025–2026 high season, and for this reason, the company will expand its flights to Paraíba. From December 2025 to February 2026, Azul will operate 230 flights to João Pessoa, while Azul Viagens, the company's tourism arm, will reinforce its operation, increasing the number of dedicated flights to the capital by 120%, with 22 trips and more than 30,000 seats, boosting the offer of packages to Paraíba during the summer.
The figures were announced yesterday during Nordestur, an event held in the auditorium of the Paraiba Tourism Company (PBTur) in Tambaú Beach, João Pessoa. On the occasion, Azul also highlighted that the most significant increase will be in the connection between Congonhas Airport in São Paulo and João Pessoa, which will have 600% more direct flights, reaching seven weekly frequencies and around 11,700 seats available during the period. There will also be a 71% increase on the route between Belo Horizonte (MG) and the capital of Paraíba, with daily flights departing from Campinas (SP) and twice as many flights on the route to Uberlândia (MG).
